T h e g e n e r a l j u d i c i a l p o l i c y of S a u d i A r a b i a is d i f f e r e n t f r o m a n y o t h e r in the w o r l d , in t h a t it is a p o l i c y b a s e d s o l e l y on I s l a m i c r e l i g i o u s b e l i e f . T h e Q u r a n doe s n o t s i m p l y set out a c o d e for p e o p l e s ' p r i v a t e l i v e s bu t a l s o sets out the g e n e r a l p r i n c i p l e s of the c o n s t i t u t i o n of the c o u n t r y . The S h a r i a j u d i c i a r y c o v e r s a l m o s t all the j u d i c i a l i n s t i t u t i o n s and, as such, t h i s w o r k w i l l be d e v o t e d

m a i n l y to the S h a r i a s y s t e m .
