5. Praktische aanbevelingen

5.8 Aanbevelingen met betrekking tot lerend vermogen

In Tabel 38 zijn aanbevelingen opgenomen die weliswaar in algemene zin over evalueren en het leren van fouten gaan, maar ook zonder meer van toepassing zijn op communicatie en, bovendien, van belang zijn voor het optimaliseren van communicatie. Hoewel in eerste instantie dus algemeen van aard, voldoen ze aan de scope van dit rapport.

Maak gebruik van de gelegenheid die meerdaagse evenementen bieden om communicatie tussentijds te evalueren en te optimaliseren (paragraaf 3.2.7)

Evalueer zo snel mogelijk na afloop van een evenement – bij voorkeur dezelfde dag nog (paragraaf 3.2.7)

 Probeer middels evaluatie van incidenten en crises duidelijk te krijgen op welke punten de veiligheid van evenementen verder kan worden verbeterd (paragraaf 2.6.5)

Vermijd de valkuilen van evenementenevaluaties:

o Lange lijsten van kleine verbeterpunten, die niet geordend zijn of waar geen prioritering in is aangebracht (paragraaf 3.2.7)

o Betrokkenheid en aanwezigheid van een groot aantal personen met ieder potentieel strijdige belangen; hierdoor kan veel tijd verloren gaan aan kleine punten, ten koste van belangrijke punten (paragraaf 3.2.7)

o Het risico dat het evenement na afloop weer van de agenda verdwijnt en de aandacht van de betrokkenen verschuift richting de komende editie (paragraaf 3.2.7)

o De routine die de betrokken partijen hebben gekregen kan leiden tot kwalitatief minder goede evaluaties (paragraaf 3.2.7)

Sta open voor en ga op zoek naar de ervaringen van anderen, in het bijzonder bij eenmalige evenemen- ten, omdat hierbij minder gelegenheid is tussentijds te evalueren (paragraaf 3.2.7)

Vermijd het ontstaan van een vals gevoel van veiligheid (paragraaf 3.2.7):

o Door niet teveel te vertrouwen op de gunstige ervaringen van voorgaande jaren (paragraaf 3.2.7)

o Door niet teveel te vertrouwen op regels en draaiboeken (paragraaf 3.2.7)

o Door te waken voor routine in de aanpak van evenementen

o Bestudeer bijvoorbeeld ieder jaar een nieuw veiligheidsthema of doe table top oefeningen (pa- ragraaf 2.6.5)

Leer van gemaakte fouten en leer daarop te anticiperen

o Zorg dat de organisatie het individuen toestaat fouten te maken (paragraaf 3.2.7)
