ORGANISATION OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUM
Die Nasionale Museum* is een van 22 Verklaarde Kulturele Instellings wat deur die staat gesubsideer word. Dit is die grootste algemene museum in die land, dit wil se dit is 'n na^uurhistoriese, kultuurhistoriese, en kunsmuseum.' Die'museum versa mei op sistematiese en selektiewe wyse voorbeelde sowel as inljgting met betrekking tot hierdie vakrigtings oor die hele spektrum van die voorgeskiedenis tot die hede. Die taak van die museum is om sodanige voorbeelde, versamelings en inligting te dokumenteer, beveilig, bewaar, konserveer, restoureer, ontsluit, bestudeer en bekend te stel. Die Museum, wat deur 'n Raad beheer word, kan in vier komponente, wat as 'n eenheid funksioneer, verdeel word.
The National Museum* is one of 22 Declared Cultural Institutions subsidised by the state. It is the largest general museum in the country, viz. it is a natural history, cultural history and art museum. The Museum systematically ahd selectively collects examples, and information relevant to these fields over the whole spectrum of prehistory up to the present: Jt is its task to document, preserve, conserve, restore, make available, study and to promote such items, specimens, examples, collections and information. The Museum, which is governed by a Council, can be divided ip four components, which are closely related.' . V i .
