Light rainfall was observed along the Caribbean coasts

Much of southern and central areas of Central America remained relatively dry during the last 7 days. Satellites observed light to moderate rainfall over the Caribbean, while gauges measured more than 25mm around the northwestern part of Honduras; and less than 25mm over the Gulf of Belize, eastern Honduras and northeastern part of Nicaragua. Some local parts of the mountainous terrain of western Guatemala and neighboring areas of Honduras have registered cold temperature between 0-5℃. The NDVI does not show visible change in the vegetation health index last week. These regions should not cause concern until the beginning of the Primera season.

Looking ahead to the next outlook period reveals little change in the weather pattern. Any significant rains are most likely along the Caribbean coasts, especially eastern/central Nicaragua, Belize, Honduras and Nicaragua. Any inland rains should be light. As usual, GEFS predicted precipitation is likely overdone. While minimum temperatures should still be slightly colder than normal over the western part of Guatemala, the rest of Central America should be warmer than normal.
