First off all, I would like to thank my thesis advisor Berend Smit for sparking my interest inn molecular simulations when I was an undergraduate student and for giving me thee opportunity to continue in his wonderful group as a PhD student. I greatly ap-preciatedd the trust he showed in my work. Secondly, I thank Theo Maesen for the manyy hours of patiently teaching a computer guy about zeolite science. Without his detailedd knowledge on zeolites and their uses, this thesis would most probably have beenn rather different.
