• Zorg na een suïcide voor een goede informatieoverdracht en opvang voor de verschillende betrokkenen (politie, huisarts, nabestaanden en het team of de organisatie).
• Zorg na een suïcide voor een goede eerste opvang van nabestaanden en voor voldoende ondersteuning op lange termijn.
• Voorzie na een suïcide in de context van een zorginstelling een zorgvuldige informatieoverdracht en goede opvang voor medepatiënten en wees extra waakzaam voor copycat gedrag.
• Evalueer na een suïcide samen met het team wat goed en minder goed verliep in de begeleiding van de overledene.
• Wees bewust van en alert voor het verhoogd suïciderisico bij nabestaanden.
• Moedig het eigen herstellend vermogen van nabestaanden aan, evenals het gebruikmaken van steun uit het eigen netwerk en uit lotgenotencontact.
• Overweeg bij gecompliceerde rouw bij nabestaanden het aanbieden van rouwinterventies.
• Ga na een suïcide op zoek naar de nodige ondersteuning en hulp, zowel op individueel als op teamniveau (indien van toepassing), en zowel op professioneel (bv. mogelijkheden tot intervisie, opleiding) als op persoonlijk vlak (bv.
mogelijkheden tot therapie, lotgenotencontact).
