HOOFSTUK 5 OPSOMMING, BEVINDINGE EN AANBEVELINGS

5.6 BEPERKINGS VAN DIE STUDIE

Hierdie studie was beperk tot primêre skole. Dit was beperk tot slegs vier laerskole in die Ekurhuleni-streek van die Gautengprovinsie. Omdat die studie beperk was tot vrouehoofde en vroue in leierskapposisies in die Ekurhuleni-streek, moes daar ondersoek ingestel word om geskikte deelnemers te vind. Verskeie skoolhoofde wou nie aan die studie deelneem nie omdat dit tydrowend vir hulle so wees. Dit het baie tyd in beslag geneem om hoofde te vind wat hul tyd sou opoffer vir die studie. Die navorser moes ook altyd om die skedules van die deelnemers gewerk het om hulle te akkommodeer.

5.7 SAMEVATTING

Hierdie studie het die uitdagings wat vroue in bestuurs- en leierskapposisies in skole ervaar, bespreek. Vroue in bestuurs- en leierskapposisies in skole is goed gekwalifiseerd en verstaan die rolle wat hulle beklee. Hul ervarings van hierdie posisies wissel, maar die meeste van hulle het aangedui dat die werk in ʼn bestuurs- en leierskapposisie uitdagend is. Vroue in bestuur- en leierskapposisies, en veral die skoolhoof, verskaf leierskap en verrig bestuur op alle terreine van die skool. Dit sluit in die skep en ondersteuning van toestande waarbinne hoëgehalteonderrig en leer plaasvind, die bevordering van die hoogste moontlike standaarde van leerderprestasie,

die bevordering van personeelmoraal, motivering van personeel, bevordering van spanwerk en die skep van geleenthede vir personeelontwikkeling.

In die algemeen word vroue nog steeds onderverteenwoordig in opvoedkundige leierskapposisies, hoofsaaklik as gevolg van interne en eksterne uitdagings, soos marginalisering, vooroordeel, die feit dat hulle nie ernstig opgeneem word nie en die siening gehuldig word dat hulle nie die kapasiteit het om te lei nie. Alhoewel daar algemeen aanvaar word dat vroulike leierskapstyle organisasies bevoordeel omdat dit skynbaar meer gemik is op die meeste kontemporêre organisasietipes, is daar steeds onvoldoende verteenwoordiging van vroulike leiers in skoolorganisasies. Die uitdaging om werk en gesinsverantwoordelikhede te balanseer, beïnvloed die effektiewe verrigting van die pligte van ʼn vroulike leier.
