3.9 LEEMTES IN DIE ONDERSOEK

Die leemte in hierdie studie is dat die navorsingsgroep relatief klein was omdat daar slegs by een spesiale skool vir leerders met SG navorsing gedoen is en die navorsingsresultate dus nie vir alle leerders met SG veralgemeen kan word nie.

3.10 AANBEVELINGS

Die volgende aanbevelings het tydens die afloop van hierdie studie duidelik geword. Waardevolle inligting aangaande die reaksie van leerders met verskillende tipes SG op hierdie visueel-perseptuele intervensiestrategieë, kan verkry word deur ’n meer verteenwoordigende navorsingsgroep saam te stel. Verdere navorsing ten opsigte van die strategieë en metodes wat in hierdie strategieë gebruik is, veral ten opsigte van die ontwikkeling van leesbegrip by hierdie leerders, word ook aanbeveel.

Gesien teen die agtergrond dat navorsing in verband met die oorsake van leerders met SG se leeragterstande beperk is (Straub & Obrzut, 2009) en inligting daaroor nie geredelik beskikbaar is nie, bestaan daar in Suid-Afrika ’n groot behoefte by leerkragte aan werkswinkels om groter duidelikheid te kry oor aanbevole onderrigstrategieë vir SG leerders (Hay et al., 2001). Daarom is dit ook noodsaaklik dat alle onderwysstudente op voorgraadse vlak hieroor opleiding moet ontvang, sodat hulle bemagtig sal wees om wanneer hulle in die onderwysberoep gekonfronteer word met leerders wat verskillende versperrings tot leer ervaar, die korrekte ondersteuning te kan bied. Met die doel om die onderrig van hierdie leerders te vergemaklik, kan foto’s of video’s van leerders wat met hierdie visueel-perseptuele intervensiestrategieë besig is, aan leerders wat die tegniek nuut moet aanleer, gewys word. Dit kan werkstyd spaar en ’n groter begrip vir die proses en doelwit van die intervensiestrategieë, teweegbring.
