1.Adult transplant candidates with varicella zoster virus (VZV) seropositivity should be vaccinated with herpes zoster (HZ) vaccine during their pre-transplant medical evaluation and screening (this thesis). 2.Loss of co-stimulatory receptor CD28 on T cells is mainly driven by cytomegalovirus seropositivity (this thesis).

3.Accumulation of age-associated B cells (ABCs) is correlated with the immune response to vaccines and more studies investigating the interaction between ABCs and T cells compartments should be performed in the future (this thesis). 4.New vaccine technology such as mRNA vaccine should be taken into consideration in the

development of the next generation of HZ vaccine. 5.VZV specific cell-mediated immunity is inversely related to the onset and severity of HZ, and monitoring cellular immunity to VZV could help to evaluate the risk for HZ occurrence. 6.How the body restrains the latent VZV in neurons is unknown and there is still no good model to simulate this process. 7.Travel makes you poor and rich. 8.A scientist can be a good chef, if he wants. 9.Chance favors the prepared mind, and opportunity favors the bold - Louis Pasteur
