APPENDIX A

Brief Explanation of the Construction of the Questionnaire

In this appendix several examples of important elements in the questionnaire will be given in order to provide an image of the final questionnaire used in this research. The appendix would become very extended in case of including the complete questionnaire. The used scale,

examples of theses and the question for the degree of importance will be presented.

The scale on which respondents could indicate to what degree they agree or not was the following:

Below, several examples of theses will be given, one for each indicator. This will provide insight into the type of theses used in the questionnaire.

The following questions concern the specific change project, i.e. the software programs to be uniformed.

Support from top. ‘My supervisor offers me sufficient support in this change project.’

Participation and involvement. ‘I have enough possibilities to share my ideas about how to improve our department.’

Presence of conflicts. ‘There are no conflicts at our department that cause the change project to be difficult.’

Fear, insecurity, threat. ‘During this change project, I feel safe within this organization.’ Skills. ‘I think I have the right skills to be able to succeed in this change project.’

Faith/trust. ‘I believe this change project will succeed.’

Personal interest. ‘This change brings along personal advantage for me.’

The following questions concern the general situation at Cost Accounting and do not specifically apply to the software change.

Group characteristics. ‘There is enough positive interaction between the different teams.’ Autonomy, support and dedication. ‘I have enough responsibility within our department.’ Experiences with change. ‘I have positive experiences with change.’

Degree of solidarity feelings. ‘My colleagues motivate me to perform better.’

Job Motivation. ‘I feel motivated to improve the quality of processes within our department.’ Personal characteristics. ‘I am interested in the insurance company as an organization.’

For some questions, the respondents were asked to indicate the level of importance of the topic discussed. How this was done in the questionnaire, is presented below.
