Curriculum Vitae

Azadeh Achbari was born in Mashad, Iran and came to the Netherlands at the age of ten. After having completed pre-university education (gymnasium) at Sancta Maria lyceum in Haarlem, she studied European Studies at the University of Amsterdam. She majored in History and took courses in English language and literature. Having completed her Master, she attended courses in the research Masters programme “Historical and Comparative Studies of the Sciences and Humanities” at Utrecht University. An Erasmus scholarship enabled her to spend a semester at the University of Göttingen in Germany. In 2009 she was awarded a PhD scholarship by NWO, the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research. She presented the findings of her research at several conferences in the Netherlands and abroad, in Montreal, San Diego, Cambridge, and Berlin among other places.
