Dit k lin k o nw aarskynlik, en dit is ook o nw aarskynlik — maar tog, daar w a s dit. Duidelike donker letters, afgebeeld op die vlakke w a a r die hout gekloof j s. Die eienaardigheid is juis dat die stomp van buite geen letsels of letters toon nie, maar w an n e e r dit in die lengte gekloof word, so w a t 5 0 m m vanaf die buitekant, dan sit die letters daar.
Dit is nie bekend of die bloekom stom pdie van 'n boom is w a t agter die Presidensie gegroei het en of dit van elders daarheen aangery is nie. Deur w ie en presies hoe die letters aangebring is, iseweneens onbekend. Dat dit wel lank gelede moes gewees het dat iemand iewers die netjiese letters op die stam van 'n bloekomboom uitgekerf het is egter duidelik. Dit moet baie jare se groei wees w a t die letters laat genees en toegroei het. ©

Data recorded included the different uses of plants, e.g. fo r food, technical or medicinal purposes, the reasons for utilizing specific p lants or plant materials, as well as v e rn acu la r names fo r plants and their taxonom y. Ethno-botanical data on such a broad base is relevant to a number of s c i e n t i s t s , i n c l u d i n g a n t h r o p o lo g is t s , a r c h a e o l o g i s t s , b o t a n i s t s , l i n g u i s t s , n u tritio n is ts and conservationists. It also provides a picture of m an-plant relationships w it h in a p a rtic u la r c o m m u n ity or area.
