Biography

Eva Marinus (1980) was born in Purmerend, but has lived most of her life in Oostzaan, The Netherlands. After completing secondary education at ‘het Zaan-lands Lyceum’ in Zaandam in 1998, she studied Psychology at the University of Amsterdam. In 2003, she obtained a Master’s degree in Clinical-Developmental Psychology (cum laude) with a final project on the relation between intelligence test scores and inhibition in children with and without ADHD. After graduating she worked as a freelance school psychologist and later as a school psychologist at Schoolbegeleidingsdienst ABC [Amsterdam’s Educational Counseling Service]. From July 2004 to August 2009, she carried out her PhD project and was a re-search assistant at the Department of Education at the University of Amsterdam. Her research focused on word-recognition processes in normal and dyslexic read-ers. Between 2005 and 2008 Eva organized the monthly colloquia of the Depart-ment of Education. In June 2008, she was co-organizer of the ISED (Dutch Insti-tute for the Study of Education and Human Development) Symposium “Domain-General and Domain-Specific Cognitive Processes in the Development of Learn-ing Disabilities” in Amsterdam. DurLearn-ing her PhD project Eva visited two research labs. In the autumn of 2007, she went to the Language and Cognitive Development group (University of Oxford) for a three-month visit. This visit was supported by a grant from the Experimental Psychology Society (EPS). Next year, autumn 2008, she visited Macquarie Centre for Cognitive Science (Macquarie University, Syd-ney) for six weeks. Since August 2009 she has been working as a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Education at the University of Amsterdam.
