Tijdens de pretest werd er drie proefpersonen uit de doelgroep gevraagd de vragenlijst in te vullen aan de hand van een think-‐aloud protocol. Hierbij vertellen respondenten waar zij aan denken bij elke vraag en antwoord, wat hen (visueel) opvalt aan de vraag/vragen en hoe zij denken dat de vragenlijst makkelijker of beter gemaakt kan worden.

Uit de pretest kwam naar voren dat een aantal formuleringen duidelijker moesten. Het gebruik per dag of keer werd door de respondenten niet duidelijk genoeg ervaren, en de formulering is hierdoor verscherpt in de vragenlijst. De leeftijdscategorieën zijn vervangen door een open antwoord waar respondenten hun geboortejaar kunnen invullen. Een van de respondenten gaf aan dat begrippen en vragen duidelijker gemaakt kunnen worden door het markeren van woorden door deze vet te drukken. De vragenlijst is verder beperkt tot Nederlanders, en Belgische respondenten zijn uitgesloten.
