5.2 Beperkingen en aanbevelingen voor verder onderzoek

Een eerste beperking van dit onderzoek is dat deze masterproef handelt over een ruim concept. Het doel van deze literatuurstudie was om een algemeen beeld te geven hoe ver het concept GHRM reeds ontwikkeld is in de academische literatuur. Wegens de beperkte tijdsspanne waarin deze masterproef uitgewerkt diende te worden en het feit dat het GHRM concept veel verschillende aspecten omvat, bleek het niet mogelijk om zeer gedetailleerd elk onderdeel van GHRM te bespreken. In toekomstig onderzoek kan meer gefocust worden op de verschillende deelaspecten van GHRM om deze meer in detail te kunnen uitwerken.

Een tweede beperking van het onderzoek is dat er slechts gezocht werd in drie verschillende wetenschappelijke databanken. Wanneer er naast de gebruikte databanken eveneens andere databanken doorzocht zouden worden, zou dit tot andere soorten en een groter aantal relevante bronnen kunnen leiden. Bovendien dient opgemerkt te worden dat door het consulteren van bronnen

31 die in de geïncludeerde artikels vermeld werden, er ook artikels geraadpleegd werden die niet tot de resultaten van de oorspronkelijke zoekstrategie behoren. Verder is het belangrijk om aan te geven dat de keuze van de zoekstrategie steeds een invloed heeft op de zoekresultaten. Een andere zoekstrategie levert mogelijks andere zoekresultaten en bijgevolg een ander aantal relevante artikels op. Hierbij kan worden opgemerkt dat bij een eerste verkenning van de databanken op verschillende trefwoorden veel dezelfde artikels werden teruggevonden.

Daarnaast is het belangrijk te vermelden dat dit onderzoek slechts uitgevoerd werd door één persoon. Dit kan onbewust leiden tot een zekere mate van subjectiviteit. Toekomstig onderzoek kan uitgevoerd worden door meerdere onderzoekers om de objectiviteit van het onderzoek te verhogen.

Uit de resultaten van deze systematische literatuurstudie blijkt dat verder onderzoek aangewezen is om alle aspecten van het GHRM concept in kaart te brengen en beter te begrijpen. Een eerste aanbeveling is om verder onderzoek te voeren naar de relatie tussen verschillende GHRM praktijken. Een tweede aanbeveling is om in toekomstig onderzoek aandacht te besteden aan de mogelijke paradoxen die kunnen optreden bij GHRM en te bepalen welke organisatorische, culturele en institutionele variabelen gelinkt zijn aan GHRM paradoxen. Ten derde dient eveneens verder inzicht verkregen te worden in externe en interne factoren die een invloed hebben op GHRM zodat op lange termijn groene uitkomsten nog kunnen verbeteren.

Verder heerst er in de huidige literatuur geen consensus over hoe GHRM exact gemeten dient te worden. Bijgevolg is ook verder onderzoek naar een correct meetinstrument noodzakelijk. Tenslotte is ook verder onderzoek naar de mogelijke win-win en spill-over effecten van GHRM op de andere dimensies van duurzaam HRM nodig.
