About the author

Felipe Perona graduated as an Electronic Engineer at the Universidad T´ecnica Federico Santa Mar´ıa, Chile (2007). Afterwards, he worked two years as a Development Engi-neer of Embedded Systems and four years managing tech-nological projects as PMO in the telecommunication in-dustry. In 2013, he moved to the Netherlands in order to continue his studies at the University of Groningen, where he graduated as M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering with specialisa-tion of Clinical Physics in 2015. The same year Felipe was awarded with a scholarship to study a Ph.D. at the University of Groningen. In Novem-ber, he started his training in the Bioimaging and Bioanalysis group lead by Romana Schirhagl. His research was focused on applications of Dia-mond Magnetometry concerning biomedical problems, specifically, the use of nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamonds to sense the interior of living cells and to map the distribution of reactive oxygen species in the cytoplasm. Felipe defended the PhD degree on January 2020 and continued his research on diamond magnetometry as a post-doc associated to the Humboldt Uni-versity of Berlin and the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut in Germany.
