1. Phycocyanin from (micro)algae is the answer to world’s demand for natural food colorant (this thesis).
2. Galdieria sulphuraria synthesises a range of photopigments depending on the cultivation conditions (this thesis).
3. The absence of a cell wall makes the extraction of highly pure phycocyanin from
Cyanidioschyzon merolae easy (this thesis).
4. Cyanidiales are globalists and specialists at the same time living all around the globe at very acidic places.
5. Working with microalgae is like having a baby, watching them grow from a single cell into a colony of millions of cells.
6. Friendship is not about who you have known the longest. It is about who walked into your life and said “I am here for you” and proved it (anonymous).
7. Side by side or miles apart, family is always close to heart (anonymous).
8. If you want to keep balance while biking, you have to stay moving on, even though hit by Groningen's strong wind.
