Haiti Weather Hazards and Benefits Assessment

Light to moderate showers fell across Hispaniola during the June 5 – 11 observation period with the exception of heavier rainfall totals along the north central border of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Haiti’s rainfall totals are well above average for the month of June, with most of the country receiving rains in excess of 200% of average. Despite the high June totals, rainfall for the 2008 rainy season is below average for the western half of the country. The recent decrease in rainfall is favorable to crop harvest activities.
