was born on the 25th of October 1983 on the sunny island of Aruba as the eldest child in a family of four. After completing high school (VWO) in 2002 on the one happy island at the Colegio Arubano, she proceeded to study medicine in Groningen at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen.

In December 2009 she completed her medical studies, during which she concluded several internships focussed on gastro-intestinal malignancies and a research project at the department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the Academic Medical Center Amsterdam on the treatment of pancreatic pseudocysts after pancreatitis under the leadership of Prof.dr. P. Fockens.

She started her PhD in February 2010 on clinical and molecular profiling of patients presenting with peritoneal metastases of colorectal cancer under the guidance of dr. E.A. te Velde, prof.dr. H.J. Bonjer and prof.dr. G.A. Meijer. at the VU University Medical Center.

In the fall of 2013 she started her residency in surgical pathology at the VU Medical Center in Amsterdam under the supervision of prof.dr. E. Bloemena and prof.dr. P. van der Valk.

The author currently resides with her husband in Amsterdam.
