About the
Annika Eenshuistra was born in Smallingerland, the Netherlands, on January 10, 1988. After finishing high school, she first followed educational programs in the creative field, among other things photography, but her main interests turned out to lie in another area: child and youth care. Therefore, she first followed an educational program in Social Work. After graduating from the propaedeutic year, she decided to obtain a Bachelor’s degree and, thereafter, a Master’s degree in Pedagogical Sciences at the University of Groningen. During her Masters she completed an internship at GGZ Drenthe ‘De Stee’, and wrote her Master’s thesis about the target group of ‘De Stee’: multi-problem families.
Following her internship, Annika worked for GGZ Drenthe as a researcher and studied the impact of parents' psychiatric problems on parenting and child development. In order to broaden her knowledge, she decided to apply for a research position. In April 2015, she was hired for the research project ‘A Better Basis’ as a PhD student at the University of
Groningen, under the supervision of Annemiek Harder and Erik Knorth. During her PhD work she was a board member of the official network of PhDs and junior researchers within the European Scientific Association on Residential and Family Care for Children and Adolescents (EUSARF).
Currently, Annika is employed as a behavioral scientist at the care and welfare organization Cosis.
