About the author

Chaïm la Roi was born on November 10, 1989 in Enschede, but spent most of his

childhood in Friesland, in the idyllic village Gerkesklooster. He obtained a Bachelor’s

degree in Sociology (2011) and a Research Master’s degree in Behavioral and Social

Sciences (2014) from the University of Groningen. In September 2014, he started as

a PhD-student at the department of Sociology of that same university, which is part of

the Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology. Currently, he

works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Futures Studies and the Swedish

Institute for Social Research at Stockholm University.
