1. As is done with equipment and IT infrastructure, a good biochemistry lab should always be up to date in molecular biology techniques. 2. Computational analyses aiming to explain experimental observations
have to be considered snake oil for reviewers, as long as they are not independently confirmed or used for correct predictions.
3. Peer-review should be less strict in enforcing additional experiments, while it should be ever stricter in enforcing accurate data and statements.
4. Highly interdisciplinary articles would benefit from being peer-reviewed section-wise by experts in the respective part of the work. 5. Excellent software is characterized by an excellent
customer-developer exchange.
6. Hire natives and you may create a team, hire foreigners and you may create a family.
7. We should try to flatten out the Dunninger-Kruger effect in public debate. A high confidence in expressing opinions despite a lack of knowledge should be decried, not encouraged.
