Andrea de Guadalupe Monroy González was born on 14 August 1990 in Mexico City.
Back in 2008, Andrea started her studies of General Medicine at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In 2013, she was awarded the UNAM Foundation and Carlos Slim Foundation Scholarship, which allowed her to pursue her ambition to study abroad for an international exchange program at the University Medical Center of Groningen (UMCG) / University of Groningen (RUG) in The Netherlands. She fi nalized her studies in General Medicine in January 2015.
Andrea started her doctorate studies at the UMCG/RUG in August 2015. Also, Andrea follows the epidemiology training according to Vereniging voor Epidemiologie since May 2018. She attended A.A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, Radiology Department, Massachusetts General Hospital for a research internship during 2018 fall. As of September 2019, she is allowed to practice as an MD in the Netherlands. Currently, she works in the Cardiology Department at the Scheper Hospital in Emmen. The Abel Tasman Talent Program and the Mexican National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) granted support to Andrea’s studies as recognition of her academic achievements. Andrea will defend her doctorate thesis on the 21st of September of 2020.
