Fostering innovation-driven

entrepreneurship

during the energy transition

The goal of this intervention-oriented platform is to develop business model patterns

for the production of biogas in order to stimulate the production of renewable energy

within the local circular economy. We develop these patterns based on viable

business models for actual projects in Groningen. The business model patterns show

how the principles of viable business models are transferable to other ventures that

aim to produce biogas from organic waste.

Research Question

Which are the characteristics of business model patterns for economically viable production of biogas from organic waste from breweries and restaurants?

Methodology

We embed our projects in an intervention-oriented platform. Student researchers and entrepreneurs develop business models during several phases:

1. Idea Lab: Exploration of a business idea. For example: Which combination of the value proposition, customer segments, and revenues in a business model is most promising to viably produce biogas from organic waste from breweries in Groningen?

2. Start-up Lab: The business model is further elaborated. For example: What is the business model for viable production of biogas from beer waste for breweries in Groningen?

3. Launch Lab: A business case is developed for a new company, for example: A start-up that offers digestion-as-a-service to breweries. We plan to offer a launching customer program to help building these companies in close contact with potential customers.

Wii4u?

We can offer student researchers for exploring or developing your business model into a business case if you have a concrete project for the digestion of biomass into biogas.
