Note from the Editors

– January 2020

Impact and attention

We are very happy to see that our initiatives to improve the journal’s impact factor have continued to pay off over 2019. We have been publishing 10 mini-reviews and four themed issues, and we continued to draw more attention to the journal by grouping papers into special sections, by putting a spotlight on one particular paper per issue, and by tweeting about newly published papers. Two years ago we introduced the Editor’s Choice section on the journal’s website, to highlight one article in each issue. Starting Jan-uary 2020 we will also publish the Editor’s Choices in the issues themselves. We have also been raising attention to papers through communication with our growing ‘ento-mology community’ on Twitter (@Ento_EA).

Mini reviews and special issues

This first issue of the 2020 volume is a special issue, focus-ing on Insects in Agroecosystems. A themed issue on Insect Production will follow soon, and we proudly announce the proceedings of the 6th International Ento-mophagous Insects Conference (Perugia, Italy) to be pub-lished later this year. We remain interested in publishing high-quality and timely mini-reviews and are constantly

welcoming suggestions for topics, also for theme issues. If you yourself have an idea or know of a colleague who might be interested in helping us to assemble a special issue, we welcome you to contact Marianne van der Peijl (marianne.vanderpeijl@gmail.com).

Change in associate editors

After 10 years of dedicated service to our journal, Dick Roelofs (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands) has decided to step down as Associate Editor. Dick is a spe-cialist in molecular and functional genetics and genomics, and of ecotoxicology of insects. We are very thankful for all of his time and efforts he has put into fostering the qual-ity of Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata.

We welcome Isabel Smallegange (University of Amster-dam, The Netherlands) as our new Associate Editor. Isabel specializes in behavioural ecology, life-history evolution, population biology, and alternative phenotype expression in insects and mites. We look forward to working with her!
