Curriculum Vitae
Kitty Verzijlbergen werd geboren op 3 september 1980 te Utrecht. Zij ontving haar HAVO diploma in 1997 op het St. Bonifatius College te Utrecht. In datzelfde jaar begon zij de studie Hoger Laboratorium Onderwijs te Utrecht waar zij haar diploma ontving in 2002 in de afstudeerrichting biotechnologie. Zij vervolgde haar opleiding op de Vrije Universiteit te Amsterdam, waar zij de master Bio-medische wetenschappen behaalde in 2004. Tijdens de master heeft zij twee stages gevolgd. Onder begeleiding van Steven Bakker op het Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht heeft zij de genetische factoren van schizofrenie bestudeerd en op het VU-Medisch Centrum onder begeleiding van Anna van Rietschoten heeft zij de epigenetische regulering van het IL-1alfa locus bestudeerd. In januari 2005 is zij begonnen met het onderzoek beschreven in dit proefschrift in het lab van Fred van Leeuwen op het Nederlands Kanker Instituut. Sinds februari 2011 is Kitty Verzijlbergen werkzaam als postdoc in het lab van Adèle Marston in het Wellcome Trust Centre in Edinburgh, Schotland, waar zij recombinatie tijdens meiose in gist zal bestuderen.
