1. You are on the playground, waiting for your turn on the zipline. You have been waiting for about 5 minutes. Suddenly, someone pushes to the front of the line and takes your spot. When you say to that person that it is your turn next, the person laughs in your face, says “No, you’re not!” and then swings on to the zipline ahead of you.

2. You are passing a bouncy ball on the pavement play space with your friends. You notice that one of your classmates is trying to join a basketball game on the other side of the pavement. The basketball kids are older, and they are ignoring your classmate and not including him/her in the game. Your classmate looks very sad.

3. Recess is beginning, and you have brought your new foam football from home. You just got it last week for your birthday and you are really wanting to show your friends, but you don’t want it to get ruined outside. Your friends promise that they will be careful, so you decide to take it to the field to play pass with them. Everything is going well until the bell rings. Recess is over. You ask a friend to pass you the ball, but the ball is thrown so hard it goes into a tree and it becomes stuck. It won’t come down and you cannot reach it.

4. You and some of your classmates are playing a

game. A different friend comes up and asks if they can play with you and your classmates’ group. You start to say yes, but another classmate in the group says

“No!” and pulls you and the rest of the classmates around the corner and away from your friend. Your friend looks very sad.

5. You and your friends are playing a make-believe game. One of your friends is being very bossy and telling your group what character each person is

playing. Your friend tells you that you are exactly the same thing you have been for the past five recesses. You ask if you can be something else instead, but your friend says “No.”

6. You and some friends are playing with a ball.

Another classmate walks past your game, grabs the ball, and drop-kicks it over the fence for no reason.

7. Today is your show-and-tell day. You decide to bring a special stuffy you bought with your own allowance, a stuffy that you have been saving up and wanting for a long time. When it is your turn to speak, someone in the class laughs at you and calls out, “My baby sister has that stuffy. That stuffy is for babies!”
