Curriculum Vitae
Stanimira Ivanova Kalaykova is born on December 21, 1978 in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 1997, she obtained her high-school diploma at the National School for Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Sofia, Bulgaria. In the same year, Stanimira started her study in dentistry at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Medical University- Sofia, Bulgaria. She completed the six-year course and obtained the degree of doctor of dental surgery in July 2003. In October 2003, she enrolled in the post-initial master program in Oral Kinesiology at the Department of Oral Function and Restorative Dentistry, Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA), The Netherlands. Next to following this post-initial master course, in September 2004, she began a part-time PhD-study in the same department. After obtaining her MSc-degree in Oral Kinesiology in June 2006, and until October 2009, Stanimira continued her work at ACTA as a full-time PhD-student. Since November 2009, Stanimira is an assistant professor at ACTA, working on further research projects, participating in patient care, and supporting the post-initial master program in Oral Kinesiology at ACTA. Moreover, Stanimira currently works as a dentist specialized in orofacial pain and restorative dentistry at Leiden University Medical Centre (Centre for Special Dentistry), and at Dental Clinic for Endodontology and Gnathology in Hoorn, The Netherlands. Stanimira is a member of the European Academy for Craniomandibular Disorders, the Society of Oral Physiology “Store Kro”, and the Dutch Society for Gnathology and Prosthetic Dentistry (NVGPT).
