Curriculum Vitae
Jan Iman van den Bout was born on the 7th of May 1975 in Zevenbergen, The Netherlands. After emmigrating to South Africa in 1981 he finished his secondary school education at Hoërskool Montana in 1992. Subsequently, after a year out spend working and backpacking through Europe he started in 1994 with a BSc. in Genetics at the University of Pretoria which he successfully completed in 1996. He then completed the degree BSc(Hons) in Genetics in 1997 at the same university before starting his MSc in Genetics in 1998 under the supervision of prof. dr. Henk Huismans. Before having properly finished his MSc, Iman started with his PhD study in November, 2000 under the supervision of dr. Arnoud Sonnenberg in the Division of Cell Biology at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam. The work described in this thesis was performed during the time spend at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. Since October 2007 Iman is working as postdoctoral researcher in the inositide laboratory led by dr. Nullin Divecha at the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research in Manchester, United Kingdom.
