5. UITGEBREIDE CONCLUSIE

Er werden geen overtuigende interactie-effecten gevonden voor de ouderlijke factoren in de relatie tussen gepercipieerde fysieke omgevingsfactoren en FA, alsook niet voor de BMI en puberteit in de relatie tussen ouderlijke en gepercipieerde fysieke omgevingsfactoren en FA. Hierdoor wordt er geconcludeerd dat toekomstige interventies best focussen op de volledige groep 10 tot 12 jaar oude kinderen. Er is geen bewezen meerwaarde om specifiek te focussen op kinderen met overgewicht of obesitas, of kinderen die zich bevinden in een bepaald stadium van de puberteit. Het is wel zo dat meisjes een veel lagere FA vertonen dan jongens. Interventies die de FA trachten te verhogen zouden hierbij in het achterhoofd moeten houden dat die ook aantrekkelijk moet zijn voor meisjes. Verder is het interessant om ouderlijke steun, als sterkste factor binnen deze studie, steeds op te nemen in nieuwe interventies. Die verhoogt niet enkel de FA, maar mogelijks ook de zelf-effectiviteit. Daarnaast is er een mogelijkheid dat dat op zijn beurt zorgt voor een positievere perceptie van de fysieke omgevingsfactoren (bereikbaarheid en veiligheid). Verder onderzoek in verband met de gepercipieerde fysieke omgevingsfactoren en hun effect op FA is hiervoor nog nodig.
