5.5. Eindconclusie
Dit onderzoek beoogt aandacht te vragen voor aanraking als mogelijk onderdeel van geestelijke begeleiding binnen de zorg. Het onderzoek laat zien dat er meestal niet wordt aangeraakt. In sommige situaties kan aanraking het contact verdiepen en de ander troost of verbinding laten ervaren, wat niet altijd in woorden overgebracht kan worden. Het moet een oprecht en authentiek gebaar zijn, dat past bij de situatie. Dat vraagt een groot
invoelingsvermogen van de geestelijk begeleider. Erkenning van de situatie en van de ander, in diens ziekte en verdriet, zijn belangrijk. Professionele waarden als respect, autonomie en medemenselijkheid gelden ook met betrekking tot aanraking. Meer onderzoek naar hoe patiënten aanraking ervaren is gewenst.
