Welcome to the 2nd International Symposium on Partial Least Squares Path Modeling – the Conference for PLS Users here at Universidad de Sevilla. Carmen N´u˜nez, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (Universidad de Sevilla), for their support. Finally, I would like to thank all the keynote speakers and concurrent presenters for making this wonderful program possible.

Both the pre-conference workshop on Tuesday, June 16, and the post-conference workshop on Friday, June 19, will take place at Metropol Parasol, one of Seville's main attractions. After more than 45 years of researching and writing on topics in the field of multivariate data analysis, the following represent my reflections on current perceptions of structural equation modeling (SEM). Reflection five: Overemphasizing that PLS loads are overestimated and path coefficients are underestimated.

Reflection six: PLS researchers must be very careful when proposing good measures. PLS path modeling will be a highly respected SEM approach and as widely used and accepted as CB-SEM - and reviewers will not reject your article simply because you used PLS.

Opening & Keynote Talk I

The purpose of FAC-SEM is to assess how the parameters of the path model vary as a function of the dimensions of the underlying factorial design. PLS has been used to analyze both the validity and reliability of the measurement scales and the estimation of the structural model. Third, to analyze the differences between the behavior of the resulting segments from the proposed structural model, a Multi Group Analysis (MGA-PLS) has been used.

In addition, we assess the moderating role of the family nature of firms (FAM) in this connection. In doing so, this paper conducted a comprehensive literature review on the concept of unlearning and developed and validated a model to measure unlearning in 112 Spanish listed companies using PLS-SEM. The construction methodology involved and a comparative analysis of two structural models suggest findings that the process of consolidating emerging understandings will prove to be an intermediate step between forgetting old knowledge and creating human capital. The development of international new ventures: A process study of short- and medium-term growth.

In this paper, we analyze the phenomenon of post-entry evolution by examining the mediating effect of short-term activity in medium-term international development. An Importance and Performance Matrix Analysis of Factors Affecting International Students' Psychological and Sociocultural Adjustments Using SmartPLS.

The purpose of this study is to translate and statistically validate this Metacognitive Activities (MCAI), an innovative instrument in the literature in Portuguese. Thus, the research fills a gap in the literature by analyzing the mediating role of knowledge stock (KS) and knowledge application (KA). The results show that both the direct effect and the indirect effect, through the mediation of KS and KA, are significant in the relationship between ACAP and CV.

A circumplex model of the behavioral antecedents of inadvertent strategic alliance termination: A PLS-based analysis. The article also shows that alliance termination can follow two alternative termination pathways, depending on the nature of the adverse situation. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of antecedents and outcomes on brand equity.

Considering both constructs, we propose to analyze their effect as a path of brand love. In this article we analyze the influence of entrepreneurial orientation (integrated approach) and dimensions (individual approach) on the performance of the hotels.

Keynote Talk II

Spain), we test the relationships between citizens' socio-demographic characteristics, country attachment, residence and personal use of local public services. The results show that the effect of place attachment on personal use of public services is indirect through attitude and that age and education level affect place attachment. Additionally, this study also serves to introduce Partial Least Squares (PLS) to public marketing and management research; and to review in depth the validation of formative constructs.

The moderating effects of personal and situational characteristics on image, satisfaction, and future behavioral intention with ports of call. The aim of this study is to examine the moderating effects of gender, age, education and previous experiences of cruise passengers in a Mediterranean port. We will analyze the process of image formation and the influence that image and satisfaction have on behavioral intentions.

Our findings showed that (1) gender, age, education and experience have a moderating effect on the image of ports, on satisfaction and on future behavioral intentions arising from satisfaction; (2) previous experiences have a mitigating effect on the formation of the image of the port of call. Venue: El Real Alc´azar de Sevilla, Patio de Banderas, s/n, 41004 Seville On the evening of Wednesday, June 17, 2015, we will have a visit and welcome cocktail at “El Real Alc´azar de Sevilla,” a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Keynote Talk III & Featured Papers

Against this background, this presentation reviews some of the past criticisms, addresses some issues regarding the proper use of PLS-SEM, and discusses directions of future PLS-SEM developments. We extend previous research by (1) examining a wide range of SEM methods such as covariance-based SEM, partial least squares (PLS), extended PLS, consistent PLS, general structured component analysis, and sum scores, (2) the analysis of null relationships in the structural model, (3) consideration of measurement model results, and (4) reporting of additional performance measures that enable a nuanced assessment of the results. Recent studies in various sectors in the USA, Brazil, China, South Korea and Australia provide evidence of the antecedents of customer equity (value, brand and relationship equity) and their influence on behavioral intentions and customer lifetime value (CLV).

We use PLS to develop a predictive model with which we can analyze the sector, and to assess the comparability of the three main competing companies. The purpose of the study is to identify those corporate culture aspects that are most suitable for supply chain management integration. Examining the corporate culture values within an organization can help to understand its contributions in a supply chain performance relationship.

In contrast, customer impact was given less attention by small firms, despite the high level of importance for the firm's social responsibility practices. We prove that carryover effects have a large impact on firms' future behavior, showing that the evolution of organizations' environmental behavior is a long-range issue.

Academics and practitioners will benefit from these guidelines by gaining an overview of the different model types, deciding on the most appropriate model and applying PLS in longitudinal studies. Guidelines for modeling and assessing reflective-formative second-order constructs in PLS: an application of innovation diffusion theory. Therefore, this article aims to assist researchers by providing a comparison of the different approaches typically used to estimate a formative second-order construct (repeated indicators, two-stage and hybrid approaches), with an empirical example.

We contribute to existing research by introducing the PLS Agent, which uses the static road model and PLS-SEM results to determine the settings for the dynamic ABS modeling method. This paper analyzes the moderator effects of observable quality attributes on customer desertion in a Spanish savings bank. Therefore, we suggest that the technology (i.e. the use of the e-bank) is a powerful instrument for retaining customers in the banking industry.

Recently, competency-based learning seems to be very relevant in universities as a result of the European Higher Education Area. In particular, the aim is to identify segments of consumers of higher education institutions (HEI) based on the structural model estimates of the European Consumer Satisfaction Index (ECSI), extended with the employability construct.

Panel Discussion & Closing Ceremony

CEOs' perception of the performance gap of the HRM function in the Malaysian manufacturing sector. Nine points, including the importance of attended HEIs in the process of finding a first job. The significance of indirect effects was assessed by the Sobel Test (Sobel, 1982; MacKinnon et al., 2002).

An evaluation of the use of partial least squares structural equation modeling in marketing research. The effect of previous experience has also been analyzed in the process of destination image formation and its impact on future behavioral intention (Rodríguez Molina et al., 2013). There is little analysis of the moderating role of education in the literature (Evanschitzky & Wunderlich, 2006).
