Biography
Aave Hannus was born on December 24, 1974, in Tallinn, Estonia. She attended primary and secondary school in Tallinn. After finishing the Tallinn German Gymnasium in 1993, she started studying German language, literature, and psy-chology at the University of Tartu (Estonia).
During her master's studies at the Institute of Psychology, University of Tartu, Aave specialised in psychophysics and developed an interest in perfor-mance psychology. From 2000 to 2001 she worked at the Estonian Academy of Defense Forces and focused on organizational behavior. Aave graduated cum laude in 2001 and started working as an assistant in sport psychology at the University of Tartu.
In 2002 she started her PhD studies at the University of Groningen. One line of research reported in this thesis has been conducted at the Radboud Uni-versity of Nijmegen together with Prof. Harold Bekkering, the other one at the University of Groningen together with Prof. Frans W. Cornelissen.
Since 2006 Aave has worked at the University of Tartu, again. She has been working in both research and teaching positions at the Institute of Sport Sci-ences and Physiotherapy. Currently, she is a lecturer in sport and exercise psy-chology. She also works as a sport psychologist in her private practice.
