Development and Coordination of the Community of Understanding
19th of March 2021
The idea of the Community of Understanding
Connects professionals of the trilateral Wadden Sea region:
o with different backgrounds and (practical) knowledge o interested/involved in sediment issues and management
Meant to provide an added value for its participants Open for everyone as mentioned above
Participants inform each other and learn from each other The community is the owner of its agenda
The scope could be all aspects of sediment(-management)
o Wadden Sea region, considering both the local and trilateral dimension
Whole scope of sediment management could be discussed
o including the ecological aspects, mud as an asset or a climate adaptation tool
How to develop into a community
• Start with ‘the willing’
• Organise events
o with and for the community (in prep) o where members can meet each other
• Gather interesting topics from the participants
• Manage the agenda of the CoU and a postbox for ideas and demands
• Support the organisation of events
• Up to participants to decide if and how they want to proceed
• And what they need for it
Elements for the following steps
• Develop further the added value of a sediment community:
e.g. a third webinar and/or local excursions in 2021
• Discuss with the participants if they want to proceed and if so, how?
• Organization of activities per tour?
Bus tour (excursion) planned from 7 to 9 October.
e.g. who has something to show/discuss? Results of both webinars?
• Composing an agenda committee?
• Increase young professionals participation. Ideas?
• How to deal with privacy law? Exchange contact details via PRW?
Interaction via Mentimeter
