1. Glaucoom is alleen asymptomatisch bij optimaal licht (Hoofdstuk 2). 2. Veel moeite met zien in het donker is een symptoom van glaucoom

(Hoofdstuk 2).

3. De visuele functie van glaucoompatiënten is bij alle lichtomstandigheden verlaagd – ook in de delen van het gezichtsveld die we als ‘gezond’ beschouwen (Hoofdstuk 3, 4 & 5).

4. Glaucoompatiënten hebben een normale donkeradaptatietijd (Hoofdstuk 5). 5. Glaucoom heeft mogelijk ook een invloed op de niet-visuele respons op

licht, zoals de synchronisatie van het slaap-waak ritme met dag en nacht

(Hoofdstuk 7).

6. Vrouwen hebben een meer uitgesproken visuele ziekteperceptie dan mannen (Hoofdstuk 2 & 6).

7. Smartphones en tablets hebben grote potentie ten aanzien van het diagnosticeren en vervolgen van patiënten (Hoofdstuk 6).

8. Effectieve wetenschapscommunicatie behoeft een relevant probleem met een pakkende oplossing, een vleugje sensatie en een snufje nuance. 9. Je hoeft niet ziek te zijn om je ziek te voelen. Je hoeft je niet ziek te voelen

om ziek te zijn. Je hoeft niet ziek te zijn om beter te worden. 10. Het helpen van anderen is het helpen van jezelf.
