Scoping review

Meta-aggegration of

qualitative and quantitative

studies on roles in shared

decision making

There is variability of roles during

shared decision making (SDM) and

in consultation. For example, roles of

parents can change over time and

vary by phase in the process of

SDM, which requires different

interpretations of the roles of

professionals.

Despite a growing body of literature

about the added value of SDM and

decision support, few studies

elaborate on the respective roles of

parents and professionals.

How do you determine

your own role during

SDM? How do you help

parents/professionals

with that?
