Lidy van der Worp-van der Kamp was born on 10th October 1960 in Assen. After attending
het Gereformeerd Lyceum te Groningen (VWO) and Pedagogic Academy in Groningen, she studied Onderwijskunde at the Faculty of Psychological, Pedagogic and Sociological Sciences (PPSW) at the University of Groningen. In 1988 she began working as an educationalist for a school advisory service and since 2000 she has been working as a Gz-psychologist. Gradually her focus shifted from learning problems to behavioural problems of students, resulting in a career switch in 2007 to a regional expertise centre for students with serious behavioural problems (RENN4) with a main focus on enhancing a systemic approach regarding students with emotional and behavioural disorders (EBD). In this period, RENN4 shifted its focus from a more behavioural to a more academic centred approach. The latter became the subject of her PhD track she started in 2011. Her research focuses on the effect of systematic academic instruction on the behaviour of students with severe emotional and behavioural problems. From 2015 to 2018 she worked as a lecturer/researcher at the department Orthopedagogy & Clinical Educational Science of the faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences at the University of Groningen. Currently she works as policy officer for education and quality for primary eduction at 'Stichting Ultiem'. All the above functions serve a single purpose: to translate knowledge concerning students with emotional and behavioural problems into daily practice of education.
