Curriculum vitae

Aline Lucie Odette Gaenssle was born on 20th April 1990 in Vienna, Austria.

She started studying Food Science and Biotechnology at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. During her ERASMUS exchange year in Denmark she transferred to the University of Copenhagen where she received her master degree in Biology – Biotechnology in 2015. The master thesis was conducted in the Department of Chemistry and focused on the catalytic mechanism of lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases. In February 2016, she started her PhD at the University of Groningen in the department of Bioproduct Engineering of which the results are described in this thesis.

Identification of Thermotoga maritima SMB8 GH57 α-amylase AmyC as a glycogen branching enzyme with high hydrolytic activity.. Xuewen Zhang, Hans Leemhuis, Štefan Janeček,

The GH57 GBE, in contrast has a very low branching activity with amylose as substrate and forms branched α-glucans of considerably lower MW (10 4 Da) with a lower degree of

Acting on amylose V, both GH57 GBEs have a considerably lower ratio of branching over hydrolytic activity than the two GH13 GBEs (Table 1), which is in agreement with

Highly branched maltodextrins with an increased branch density can be created enzymatically in two ways: either by using glycogen branching enzyme (GBE), which cleaves α-1,4-bonds

Most likely the relatively high hydrolytic activity of the GH57 GBEs is not compatible with the synthesis of branched α-glucans with a narrow molecular weight distribution..

In hoofdstuk 1 wordt de stand van zaken uiteengezet betreffende het glycogeen metabolisme in prokaryote micro-organismen, de overeenkomsten en verschillen tussen de GH13 en GH57

Fraaije, who devoted their valuable time to reading through my thesis and providing comments on the thesis, and approved the thesis for public defence.. My grateful thanks go
