Appendix two Step five B and six of the brainstorm session

Step 5B

My supervisor and I had to pick out the most intriguing of those ideas that were generated in the last three steps but not regarded as feasible (Step 5B).

The three ideas we picked out were:

1. How to develop magic/ un-understandable food?;

2. How to make food that whispers your name in the shop?;

3. How to upgrade food waste to human quality?

At this stage ideas that were judged to be feasible were present in the knowledge market. The three ideas that were chosen as most intriguing were not feasible according to the people present at the brainstorm session.

Step six

The last step of the brainstorm session was to make clear that non-feasible ideas have feasible elements in them.

Step 6A was to choose one of the three ideas to work on further as a group. The idea that was chosen was idea number one, ‘How to develop magic/ un-understandable food?’. The next step, 6B, was to formulate 10 actionable ideas that could help solve the problem (Appendix thirteen). Jan Vaessen called these the ‘What you do is (WYDI)’. Of these ten formulated WYDI again the group had to choose one to work on (Step 6C). ‘Make it not look like food’ was chosen by the group.

In step 6D 30 benefits and three concerns were formulated for ‘make it not look like

food’ (Appendix thirteen). In step 6E actionable ideas were formulated for the three

concerns to overcome them(Appendix thirteen). The brainstorm session was finished

after this step.
