Haiti Weather Hazards and Benefits Assessment

For

May 14 – May 20, 2009

A seasonal increase in rainfall was observed across Hispaniola in the last seven days.

Precipitation accumulations ranging between 50 and 75 mm was observed in the central and northern departments of Haiti, with lesser rainfall totals received across the southern departments.

Since the start of May, precipitation has remained marginally below average in some local communities along the southern Haitian coast. Rainfall forecasts suggest another week of moderate rains in the next observation period, with totals ranging between 50 -75mm across highland regions of Hispaniola.
