Hasan & Husain Essop
Hasan and Husain Essop (Cape Town, 1985) studied printmaking and photo graphy respectively at the Michaelis School of Fine Art in Cape Town. The fraternal twins construct and perform roles in staged scenarios that explore sibling rivalries, opposing beliefs and cultural systems, the politics of public space in Cape Town, and larger global conflicts from the perspective of Muslim youth. Their work, which combines photo graphy with graphic design manipulation, has been featured at Goodman Gallery Cape, among others, and they have been selected for the 2009 Havana Biennial.
