Jalal Soltani was born on the 30th of August 1975 (08th Shahrivar 1354) in Hamedan, Iran (Persia). He studied Mathematics & Physics in the Imam Highschool of Hamedan and received his diploma in 1993. In 1994 he entered the Bu-Ali Sina University of Hamedan to study Plant Protection for his BSc and graduated cum laude in 1998. In the same year, he entered the Tarbiat Modarres University of Tehran, Iran, to study for an MSc in Plant Pathology. His major focus in that period was Phytobacteriology and his master project was related to bacterial blight disease of walnut.

Soon after graduation in 2001 (cum laude) he passed the ‘Scholarship Exam’, held by the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research & Technology, to get a national grant for PhD studies abroad. From mid-July 2004 to mid-January 2009 he performed his PhD studies at the section Molecular & Developmental Genetics of the Institute of Biology, Leiden University, under supervision of Dr. G. During the transformation process Agrobacterium transfers not only T-DNA but also a number of its virulence proteins into the host cell (Vergunst et al., 2000).. This protein

Opvallend was dat deletie van een aantal genen die betrokken zijn bij de acetylering van histonen resulteerde in een verhoogde transformatie efficiëntie, terwijl deletie van
