Juliette Liber was born on June 26th 1976, in Krimpen, The Netherlands. She graduated in 1994 from high-school at the Krimpenerwaard College. After graduation (VWO) she started an internship as a surgical nurse at the Zuiderziekenhuis (currently the Medisch Centrum Rijnmond Zuid (MCRZ)/ Medical Center Rijnmond Zuid) in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. From 1998 to 2002 she studied Pedagogy at the University of Amsterdam. She conducted her clini- cal training at a child psychiatry centre in Goes (the Netherlands) in 2001-2002, participating in a team specialized in the assessment and treatment of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. At the same time, she worked on her master-thesis together with Doreen List, supervised by doctor Sabina Kef. A thesis titled ‘Burns between the ears’ was completed on September the 15th. After graduating cum laude in 2002 Juliette started as a PhD-student at Curium, the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of Leiden University Medi- cal Center. She participated in a large treatment outcome study titled ‘Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT) of Childhood and Adolescent Anxiety Disorders: An optimal match between treatment modalities and client characteristics’. This study was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of Sophia Children’s Hospital/
ErasmusMC and supervised by professor Philip Treffers, doctor Robert Ferdinand en doctor Lisbeth Utens. Juliette’s research focused on the investigation of predictors for treatment outcome of CBT for childhood anxiety disorders, of which the results are presented in this thesis. From October 2007 until September 2008 Juliette worked as a teacher at the Univer- sity of Utrecht. Since May 2008 she participates as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Amsterdam in a randomized clinical trial investigating the treatment of oppositional and aggressive behavior in a school-based population.
