“Endocarditis, improving the chain of care”

The steel chain on the cover of this thesis figuratively portrays the chain of medical care. It is built up of several links that represent the specialized care that patients with (suspected) infective endocarditis receive from involved physicians of multiple medical specialties in the hospital. The chain on the cover is given shape as a heart, making the link to the organ. Finally, in our opinion, infective endocarditis deserves more attention than it currently receives. Therefore, we pictured the heart in a peripheral position on the thesis cover. We strive to position endocarditis more centrally, mostly for involved physicians, and hope to have reached that goal with the presentation of this thesis.
