Curriculum Vitae
163 Arina Buizer was born on March 17th, 1982 in Werkendam, as one of four kids. She grew up in Werkendam, Lienden and Kesteren. She attended high school at the Christelijk Lyceum Veenendaal. In 2000 she started studying medicine at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. During the studies, her interest was drawn to orthopaedic surgery, resulting in a clinical and research internship in orthopaedic surgery in the Universitair Medisch Centrum in Groningen. After her graduation in 2006, she started working as a clinical resident at the emergency department of the Sint Lucasziekenhuis at Winschoten. In 2008 she moved to Almelo, to start working as a clinical resident at the orthopaedic department of Ziekenhuisgroep Twente in Almelo. In 2010, she started as PhD student at the departments of biomedical engineering and of orthopaedic surgery of the Universitair Medisch Centrum in Groningen under supervision of Prof. Dr. S.K. Bulstra, Prof. Dr. A.G. Veldhuizen and Dr. R. Kuijer. Together with biomedical technologist Hilde Steg and the lab team she worked on the development and testing of oxygen-releasing microspheres. In 2014, she started her training to become an orthopaedic surgeon in the Medisch Centrum Leeuwarden in the department of general surgery under supervision of Dr. J.S. de Graaf. The training was continued at the department of orthopaedic surgery in Isala Zwolle in 2016, under supervision of Dr. C.C.P.M. Verheyen. At this moment, she continues her training at the department of orthopaedic surgery in Medisch Centrum Leeuwarden under supervision of Dr. P.C. Rijk. She hopes to finish her training in 2020 at the department of orthopaedic surgery of the Universitair Medisch Centrum in Groningen under supervision of Prof. Dr. S.K. Bulstra.
In her spare time Arina travels as much and as far as possible, likes to go to festivals and plays korfball.
