1. When designing a new molecule and planing a new experiment you should take into account that one planned week equals one month in the lab. 2. Claiming a record value requires thorough measurements with different
techniques.
3. When a machine stops working, try to fix it yourself instead of blaming others.
4. The most important skill for an engineer is to be able to undo his/her own mistakes.
5. Multi-disciplinary collaboration might not help you meet deadlines but en-riches the depth and the breadth of the work.
6. When measuring devices with dimensions in the order of nanometers, one has to take the nanometer sized structure of the device into account. A calm sea for a tanker can be menacing for a canoe.
7. Purely for the method of impedance spectroscopy measurements eutectic gallium-indium (EGaIn) is a better choice of top contact than aluminium.
