Healthy interest of students

in Life Sciences programmes; higher numbers of visitors to open days and increased numbers of applications, also internationally.

The

new Master’s programme Bioinformatics and Biocomplexity

started with 30 students.

The

online guide for teachers and supervisors

in Master education was officially launched.

New societal focused courses

started or are under design: Engaging scientists with the public and the Thematic interdisciplinary challenge.

New courses started

in alliance with TU/e and WUR

under GSLS quality control: Bio- tech-med interdisciplinary training and Food for health and safety.

Project Redesigning Life Sciences

as a response to the Corona induced restrictions;

the aim was to redesign courses and the curriculum to prevent Corona-driven study delay in the academic year 2020-2021 and beyond, while at the same time upholding the quality of education and ensuring that the end terms of the Master’s degree will be achieved.

The foundations for two new profiles of 33 EC each were drawn up:

Life sciences and society

and

Translational life sciences

. GSLS participated in two new

UU wide USO projects:

Escape room responsible conduct of research and Developing an inclusive curriculum and learning environment.

of the GSLS was approved by the Life Sciences deans.

Due to Covid-19 virtually all PhD courses were

transformed to online editions

within a month.

The biweekly PhD Update reached a record of

The GSLS welcomed the

updated Doctoral Degree Regulations

of Utrecht University.

The PhD Course Centre offered a

new course ‘My Animal research’

to further improve the quality of animal research.

The PhD Council published the results of its

2019 PhD Survey

including questions about safe learning environment.

The GSLS offered four new courses organised by the newly-appointed UU PhD psychologist:

Resilience, Transparent communication, Selfmanagement

and

Balance.
