1. Individuen met een moreel deliberatieve attitude hechten een grote waarde aan het betrekken van ethische aspecten in de zorg, terwijl dit niet geldt voor individuen met een paternalistische attitude. (hoofdstuk 2 van dit proefschrift) 2. Individuen met een paternalistische attitude hebben een sterke neiging tot

morele ontkoppeling, terwijl dit bij individuen met een moreel deliberatieve attitude juist niet het geval is. (hoofdstuk 2 van dit proefschrift)

3. Een hoge mate van het hebben van de persoonlijkheidseigenschap ‘Stabiliteit’ voorspelt post-conventioneel niveau van moreel redeneren, en dit wordt verklaard door een lagere neiging tot morele ontkoppeling. (hoofdstuk 3 van dit proefschrift)

4. Het selecteren van mensen met het persoonlijkheidstype Stabiliteit zou van bijzonder belang kunnen zijn in disciplines waarvan bekend is dat zij een moeilijk moreel klimaat hebben (b.v. palliatieve zorg, intensive care). (hoofdstuk 3 van dit proefschrift)

5. Clinici die veel belang hechten aan ethische aspecten in de zorg en moreel twijfelachtig gedrag van hun collega's willen melden, hebben daarvoor een sterker zelf ervaren gedragscontrole nodig. (hoofdstuk 4 van dit proefschrift) 6. Een moreel deliberatieve attitude maakt zorgprofessionals ontvankelijk voor het

zwichten voor druk die door patiënten wordt uitgeoefend en dientengevolge voor het breken van morele normen . (hoofdstuk 5 van dit proefschrift)

7. In iedere medisch-ethische toetsingscommissie moet een Physician Assistant en Verpleegkundig Specialist zitting hebben , omdat beide professionals een zelfstandige rol hebben in de behandelrelatie met patiënten.

1. Individuals with morally deliberative attitudes place a high value on including ethical aspects in care, whereas this is not true of individuals with paternalistic attitudes. (Chapter 2 of this dissertation)

2. Individuals with a paternalistic attitude have a strong propensity to morally disengage, whereas individuals with a morally deliberative attitude do not disengage. (Chapter 2 of this dissertation)

3. A high degree of having the personality trait "Stability" predicts post-conventional level of moral reasoning, and this is explained by a lower propensity to morally disengage. (Chapter 3 of this dissertation)

4. Selecting people with the Stability personality type might be of special importance in disciplines that are known to have a difficult moral climate (e.g., palliative care, intensive care). (Chapter 3 of this dissertation)

5. Clinicians who attach great importance to ethical issues in care and want to report morally questionable behavior of their colleagues do need stronger self-perceived behavioral control to do so. (Chapter 4 of this dissertation)

6. A morally deliberative attitude makes healthcare professionals susceptible to yiedling to patient pressure and consequently breaking moral norms . (Chapter 5 of this dissertation)

7. Every medical ethics review committee should include a Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner , because both professionals have an independent role in the treatment relationship with patients.
