1. The groups and communities we are part of can be an important motivational force for our pro-environmental behaviour (this thesis). 2. Being part of community environmental initiatives can motivate environmental behaviour next to one’s personal
pro-environmental motivations (this thesis).
3. Being involved in community environmental initiatives is beneficial for the environment and the community (this thesis). 4. People overestimate the importance of money in motivating pro-environmental actions such as joining a community pro-environmental initiative (this thesis).
5. Both the motivation to care for the environment and the motivation to be involved in one’s community underlie people’s involvement in community environmental initiatives (this thesis). 6. Posting a flyer is not enough to promote involvement in a
community environmental initiative, but talking to fellow community members can motivate involvement (this thesis).
7. Interdisciplinary collaboration has important co-benefits. Apart from providing a more holistic perspective on a complex issue, it is also often a rewarding social experience.
