1. Het COL7A1 gen bij recessieve dystrofische epidermolysis bullosa heeft een ideale structuur voor antisense oligonucleotide-gemedieerde exon skipping. (dit proefschrift)
2. Systemisch toegediende oligonucleotiden in muizen bereiken de huid en kunnen daar exon skipping induceren met als gevolg herstel van type VII collageen expressie. (dit proefschrift)
3. Een verkort type VII collageen polypeptide als gevolg van exon 13 of exon 105 skipping behoudt haar functionaliteit. (dit proefschrift)
4. Muis type VII collageen afkomstig uit dermale fibroblasten kan resultaten vertroebelen in muismodellen waar humane huid op muizen wordt getransplanteerd. (dit proefschrift)
5. Patiënten met de ernstige gegeneraliseerde vorm van recessieve dystrofische epidermolysis bullosa hebben het meeste baat bij exon skipping als ‘precision medicine’ therapie; voor patiënten met dominante dystrofische EB zal exon skipping therapie waarschijnlijk niet werken. (dit proefschrift)
